The Grand hotel, Nuwara Eliya is by far one of the best authentic high tea experiences in Sri Lanka that I have ever experienced.

Just a few weeks back when I visited to Nuwaraeliya with my family we decided to try the high tea at Grand Hotel named as “typical British afternoon tea party” which consisted of good tea & delicious finger foods with ample indoor and outdoor seatings for your own comfort.

Clocking at LKR.1800(net) per person it is available daily from 3.30pm to 6pm at their tea lounge with prior reservation.

The best part was that they served drinks for three for the same price as for two!!
Since we reserved our place earlier we were able to get our hightea arranged outside.
The platter was served within around 10 minutes from the time we arrived.

A 3 tier platter with a collection of delicious foods.
8 savory items and 4 sweet items per person, with a total number of 12 items. We can choose either tea or coffee as our drinks.
My recommendation is to select Ceylon tea

About the savory items, we got veg. and non-veg item.
Very different freshly made finger foods with a delicious Beef steak sandwich well presented got my whole attention.

About the sweet items, it will always be my favorite part, they served cheesecake, red velvet cake, biscuit pudding and some scones as sweets.
But it was not enough to fixed my sugar cravings.
All the items were really good and very well presented.
With as usual my personal favorite being cheesecake.

We selected milk coffee as our drinks, because of the weather that day. It was pleasing as usual.

In brief:
The grand hotel is one of the most famous hotels in Nuwaraeliya specially among the tourists.
Although I have tried heaps of high teas around Sri Lanka this experience was very different and memorable.
The ambiance, customer service, the food was all denoted to the Grand hotel.
Live piano music playing in the background relaxed our mind and hotel team always came up and checked on us just to make sure if everything was on point.

The overall experience in this little England town of our Island was way beyond our satisfaction.
And just before I end, I have to mention that this is a MUST high tea experience in Sri Lanka.
