Arie Lagoon Luxury Resort situated on the western coast of Negambo in a town called Thalahena offers in house guests to experience high tea in their all day dining Banana prawn restaurant or you can opt for a table outside on their green lawn which gives a spectacular view of the lagoon.

High Tea at Arie Lagoon is served from 3pm to 6pm. Food lovers are expected to make their reservations before as it is a platter served high tea as opposed to one that is served in a buffet. This meal is priced at LKR 1750 nett per person.

It was a humid and sunny day giving us the opportunity to see many sea birds in action in the lagoon. We were served their signature welcome drink named “Arie Mule”, which is a combination of passionfruit, ginger, lime and bees honey topped with non-alcoholic ginger beer. This immediately quenched our thirst and we were immediately rejuvenated and eagerly awaited our high tea platter.

The platter was arranged with both sweet and savoury items and they were as follows:

  • Brown and White Bread Tuna Sandwich with Cucumber and Hummus
  • Creamy Chicken vol - au vent
  • Avocado and Sundried Tomato Bruschetta
  • Prawn and Vegetable Spring Roll
  • Scones with jam and cream
  • Waffles Delight
  • Rich Chocolate tart
  • Iced Tea/Ice Coffee

Above is the usual platter offered to guests. We started off with the savoury items. We enjoyed the spring roll which had a nice crunchy taste to it. We then moved onto the sandwich which had a nice presentation to it. The sandwich was not spicy and was flavoured with a hint of pepper. The bruschetta was definitely one of our favourites as you can taste the rich parmesan which was sprinkled on top. We were also given their signature mixed seafood pie which consisted of fish, prawns and calamari. The cutlets were tasty but they tasted pretty ordinary.

We then moved onto the dessert platter and were served a lovely mixed fruit tart instead of the chocolate one. This was quite delicious with a lovely combination of tropical fruits such as pineapple, papaya and accompanied with grapes and garnished with mint leaves. We were also given a chocolate cake topped with white chocolate. The cake was a bit dry but the jam and cream helped enhance the taste of the cake. The scones were nice and crumbly and tasted quite delicious as well.

We ordered an iced tea and an iced coffee between each other which we sipped down with our food items. The coffee was nice and creamy and the tea certainly helped us cool against the hot humid surrounding.

We also have the option of having our high tea in a traditional sense of picnicking which is served on the lawn on a picnic cloth. This is especially enjoyable for couples as well as families with young kids as they get to enjoy the outdoor experience while enjoying the tea and making cherishable memories along the way!

Overall, the high tea experience was an enjoyable one and given that we went during the weekday, it was quiet and serene. The staff was quite welcoming, always ready to help and serve us what we wanted. If you are a pescatarian, a vegetarian or a vegan, Arie Lagoon are ready to help you customize your platter so you can enjoy the platter to suit your lifestyle.

Let us know about your Arie Lagoon High Tea experience and hope you get to enjoy it as much as we did!
